Setting the GPS to "Avoid Freeways," I drove from Boca Chica Key (just east of Key West) to Boca Chica Beach in Texas where the Rio Grande separates Mexico from the United States and empties into the Gulf of Mexico. Stopping every 50th mile (more or less) to take a photo of whatever was around me, the goal of the trip was to use the roads as close to the Gulf of Mexico as I could that made sense given the time constraints and to make a photo-documentary of the journey with an eye toward the Gulf when possible.
